Hercules was the son of Zeus, the king of the gods, and Alcmene, a mortal woman. His extraordinary strength and bravery earned him fame and respect throughout ancient Greece.

One of the most famous tales of Hercules is the Twelve Labors, a series of tasks imposed on him by King Eurystheus as punishment for killing his own wife and children in a fit of madness induced by Hera, Zeus's wife and Hercules's stepmother.
