The majestic swan, Cygnus, is intertwined with the captivating tale of Zeus and Leda.

Zeus, known for his amorous escapades and shapeshifting abilities, took the form of a swan to approach Leda, the Queen of Sparta, with whom he had become enamored.

Under the guise of the graceful bird, Zeus sought refuge in Leda's arms, and she, unaware of his true identity, welcomed him. Their encounter resulted in a divine union, leading to an extraordinary event: Leda laid two eggs, each carrying a set of twins.

From the first egg emerged the twins Pollux and Helen, born of Zeus's divine lineage, while the second egg yielded Clytemnestra and Castor, the offspring of Leda's mortal husband, King Tyndareus. This unusual birth gave rise to a duality of mortal and divine siblings, each with their own destinies and legacies.
